Find the exact calendar-day difference, with an option to include the end date.
How to read this result
There is one day between 1 January and 2 January. Including the end date counts both dates and returns two. The default excludes the end date while examining the start date. Hotel nights usually follow the difference between arrival and departure; a schedule may include both dates.
Calculations use civil dates rather than elapsed local hours. Daylight saving changes therefore do not add or remove a calendar day. Leap years, month boundaries and year boundaries are included. Use the business day calculator to remove non-working days.

What happens with the same start and end date?
The difference is zero, or one when you include the end date.
Why not divide hours by 24?
A local day can last 23 or 25 hours at a daylight saving transition. That should not change a count of calendar dates.
